Hyundai Kauai EV
Sustainable energy
Keeping all the irreverence of Kauai's exterior lines, adding just a few solutions that aim to improve aerodynamic performance, this 100% electric version could very well be what many customers are looking for. A small, practical urban SUV, dispatched for the day-to-day rush in the city, but with the enormous benefit of clean and silent use. With a range of over 400 kilometres, that excuse is now no longer being used and this Kauai is now able to launch itself on longer, extra-urban trips.
Three driving modes are available, Eco, Comfort and Sport. And if in the former the accelerations are fluid and fast enough for day-to-day driving, by selecting the latter, the Kauai completely changes the way it delivers more than 200 horsepower, having more force than enough for the front tires to lose traction when accelerating at about 50 km/h. Comfort mode excels in the balance between efficiency and acceleration capacity, being the most suitable for so-called normal driving. On the steering wheel, through the paddles, it is possible to control the regenerative capacity of the electric machine, and in its highest configuration, it is possible to drive the Kauai almost without touching the brake pedal.
Interior
The instrument panel is very complete, with easy-to-read information regarding the consumed and regenerated energy and the center of the dashboard, as usual in Hyundai models, is placed the 8-inch tactile infotainment display, one of the most pleasant use of the segment, with good graphics and without dispensing with the physical shortcut buttons for the various menus.
Space in the rear seat is adequate for two passengers of average height, with enough headroom and legs. However, the low height between the floor of the Kauai and the seat of the bench forces us to travel with our legs slightly bent. If it is necessary to transport a third person in the central seat, although possible, it is advisable that the trip be short. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 332 liters.
