Volvo V90 Recharge

Sustainable energy

The V90 T6 Recharge. It is a new plug-in hybrid engine with 340 hp with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, which works as an alternative to the existing T8 with 392 hp. In electric mode, this new “electrified” van can travel up to 54 km (WLTP). It announces an average of combined consumption between 1.7 and 2.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 38-55 g/km.

Undeniably seductive, the Volvo V90 imposes itself and sets status. Here we are facing the T6 version, which means that in addition to the 2.0 l gasoline engine, we have an electric unit with an 11.6 kWh battery capable, according to the brand, of traveling up to 55 km in 100% electric mode. The result is a combined power of 340 hp and reduced consumption whenever, and only if… we have a battery. Not using the electric motor frequently, for example due to a lack of battery power, the consumption of the V90 rises to close to 9 l/100 km. Likewise, with the battery fully charged, which can be done in just four hours using a domestic socket, I managed a maximum of 42 km without fuel consumption, using Pure mode. In Hybrid mode, with automatic management between the two engines, I covered 80 km with a consumption of 5 l/100 km. From then on, and with no battery charge, it is naturally always uphill… However, it is worth mentioning the always solicitous progress of this Volvo V90 T6, and the safe way in which it does so, although “only” up to 180 km/h.

Interior

Being a family car, the Volvo V90 T6's 560 liters of luggage compartment has numerous practical and useful solutions, even though the automatic opening of the coat rack does not facilitate access to items that are further away from the access gate, which has an automatic opening and system Free hands. At the back there are curtains, hangers, air conditioning outlets, USB connections and even integrated child seats. Then there are still details that make the difference in daily use. This is the case with the charging cable. In addition to having a generous length, it is one of the most practical we have found, including a Velcro that helps to always have the cable properly wound. The infotainment system, the same as found in all other models of the manufacturer such as the XC40, is only operated via the touch screen, positioned vertically like a tablet.
